Have you ever wondered why your ferns start looking sad in the middle of summer? Do you long to keep their vibrant green color all season long? Well, you’re in luck because I’m about to share a foolproof method to keep your ferns thriving and even greener than the day you brought them home!

The Power of Fish Fertilizer

Forget complicated fertilization methods. The secret to healthy ferns lies in fish fertilizer. Not only is it a safe option for your plants and pets, but it’s also a cost-effective way to give your ferns the nutrients they need. Fish fertilizer not only strengthens their root system but also improves the organic matter in the soil. The best part? You’ll start seeing results within 24 hours!

When to Use Fish Fertilizer

As spring arrives, it’s time to bring your ferns out of the greenhouse. But before you do that, give them a rejuvenating bath in fish fertilizer. To guide you through the process, I’ve created a step-by-step video that demonstrates exactly what needs to be done. It’s simple and effective.

The Secret to Success

Now, here’s the most important part of my secret: repeat this process once a month throughout the entire growing season for your ferns. I personally follow this routine from mid-March to mid-November, but it may vary based on your climate. Mother Nature always keeps us on our toes, doesn’t she?

Instructions for Fertilizing Ferns

Here’s a quick rundown of the process:

  1. Water your ferns deeply before fertilizing to avoid harming their roots.
  2. Ensure the lid of the fish fertilizer is tightly closed.
  3. Give the bottle a good shake to mix the fertilizer.
  4. Pour enough fish fertilizer into a 5-gallon bucket to cover the bottom.
  5. Fill the bucket with water, but be mindful of the water pressure to prevent any splashing accidents.
  6. Let the gentle flow of water mix the fish fertilizer thoroughly. You can use a yardstick or fallen branch to stir if needed.
  7. Slowly pour the mixture over each fern, ensuring they are well-nourished. One bucket is sufficient for three ferns, but larger ferns may require an entire bucket dedicated to them.
  8. Repeat this process according to the number of ferns you have. I personally fertilize my 12 ferns five or six times throughout the growing season.

A Few Notes on Fern Fertilization

I understand that the smell of fish fertilizer might concern you. However, trust me when I say that the benefits far outweigh the temporary odor. Your ferns will thrive and transform into a lush shade of green right before your eyes. The next day, you’ll witness new growth sprouting in a vibrant neon green. This fish fertilizer truly works wonders!
